Project Profile: quasar energy group and Haviland Plastic Products have partnered to construct an anaerobic digestion renewable energy facility in Haviland, Ohio. Approximately 40,000 wet tons of biosolids, regional food waste, and FOG (fats, oil and grease) will be diverted from local landfills and wastewater treatment plants each year. The biogas produced from the material will create 1 MW of electricity and CNG (compressed natural gas) to fuel local and fleet vehicles. Electricity generated by the project will be sold back to the neighboring Haviland Plastics manufacturing plant. The systems effluent will be land applied at local farms as a fertilizer supplement (marketing by quasar as equate) to improve crop growth.
