On Wednesday September 1, 2010 US Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary for Farm & Foreign Agriculture Service Michael Scuse toured quasar energy group's flagship anaerobic digestion system on The Ohio State University's OARDC campus in Wooster, Ohio.
Senator Brown's agenda was clear - he was focused on determining what he could do to encourage the growth of the renewable energy industry to create skilled jobs in the state of Ohio.
Representatives from quasar stated that Wooster's "Buckeye Biogas" project was constructed using 50% Ohio companies. The company estimated that, once complete, projects currently under construction in Zanesville and Columbus will be constructed using between 75% and 90% Ohio companies.
In total - the company estimates that the construction of the three projects will result in more than 250 jobs across Ohio, including jobs directly with quasar, participating construction firms and component manufacturers and suppliers across the state.
On their tour, the Senator and Deputy Under Secretary were accompanied by quasar President Mel Kurtz, CFO Steven Smith, Vice President of Engineering Clemens Halene and Paul Knowlson of CP Recycling. |
